CPAP Machine
A CPAP machine is a unit designed to keep air passages open during sleep. Persons with obstructive sleep apnea generally benefit from using CPAP machines. When used correctly, these machines are nearly 100% effective in eliminating apnea and preventing snoring.
CPAP, which stands for continuous positive airway pressure, is a unit the size of a shoebox or smaller. It blows air into the nostrils during sleep, and keeps passageways open by maintaining a constant pressure. This machine does not breathe for you – rather it keeps air pressure high enough to ensure airways stay open when you inhale and exhale.
AED’s Saves Lives
An automated external defibrillator (aed) is a laptop-sized device designed to help the heart re-establish a normal rhythm following sudden cardiac arrest. Today’s defibrillators are easy to use, and require only minimal training. The importance of aeds is easy to recognize if you consider the statistics. Each year, 250,000 people die of cardiac arrest in the U.S. alone. It is estimated that at least 50,000 of these deaths could be prevented with proper defibrillation.
